i think this would be one of the biggest break throughs we have seen in years.
just this evening i wanted to go out and get drunk and i couldnt cause i needed to drive. forget about the getting drunk thing, this is gonna make life alot easier.
there would always be those who enjoy driving (such as me), but sometimes i just wish i could just sit back listen to music and close my eyes or watch the tv in the car (which will obviously be sold in every car that will drive itself).
why is it crappy can you imagine a self drive car, you could sleep in the back of your car and the car would drive you around the country when your sleeping , you could go out and get drunk on a Saturday night and it can drive you home i don’t think that’s crappy do you.
I think cars should drive themselves. I got to think about the Batmobile. It is a single seater car? With the automotive markets being hit hard, why are automotive maker not producing driver seater cars with a single seat for the driver. I have seen concept art, and they would only have three wheels as well. This seems quite revolutionary and much more cost efficient. This car design is much more effeicent for single and the never marrying types. You could get more truck space if desired too.
so if your going 80 miles an hour in the real traffic and someone cuts you off and the laser doesnt catch it you die…next we will have that amazing buggy car it drives to work transform into a bigger you walks into work gets hassled by your boss then becomes a gasaholic and every morning your car walks into work with gas lite in its coffee
what if it can detect a 360 area around itself in a 7 ft radius and youre going 80 MPH (120km i think) down the highway and a bird flies past and it slams on the breaks. Can you sue VW for whiplash? lmao
yeah, but that laser scanner is very simple, what if the car’s going 70 miles an hour on a highway and has too stop?, By the time it notices the object in front of it, it’ll be too late.
not really. This only detects the proximity of the cones, it cannot calculate the speed of surrounding vehicles or detect every object in a 360 degree field. I wouldn’t trust this VW to drive me through traffic. (also notice how many of the cones it takes out)
on the road while you were sleeping, you probably get a ticket haha

China’s FAW Hongqi HQ3 could already do that. And it can go as fast as 190mph in self-driving mode.

bmw recently did a better version of the self drive thing tested on Top Gear(UK) which driver far better and looks better
